Police-Free Schools DC

Youth deserve safety, support, education, and resources. Not policing and handcuffs.

That’s why Black Swan Academy and many organizations and community members across DC are fighting for police-free schools.

We need your help — will you join the #PoliceFreeSchoolsDC campaign to support youth today?

Black youth in DC say, “love us, don’t harm us.”

Many people have been conditioned to believe that police keep us safe even though they harm, detain, and kill so many people, including school students.

Police make the classroom unsafe for youth, especially Black youth, ushering them into the school-to-prison pipeline and exposing them to state violence.

We demand DC Council immediately remove policing from schools.

They should use those funds and more to increase access to resources that youth across DC have said will actually promote safety.

This includes things like safe housing, affirming classrooms to learn and dream in, and support with navigating challenges and conflict.

Let’s fight for the supportive world that youth deserve.

Tell your friends, family, and neighbors to support #PoliceFreeSchoolsDC.
